Nancy Stechert – Iyengar Yoga Workshop

Friday March 29th – Sunday March 31st

Friday 4:30pm-6:30pm
Free Up! Neck and Shoulders
Neck and Shoulders: Every joint should have its own movement. Sometimes the neck and shoulders bind themselves together, restricting movement in both. We will explore various movements and poses to free up these joints and release some of the deeper holding that keeps us bound, not only physically but mentally.

Saturday 9:30am-11:30am
Low Back Love
The stability of the sacrum and its connection to all parts of the body gives us ease and structure in the poses. Working with back arches and twists we will keep the low back free from pain and injury and find freedom from within. As we give the gift of asana, breath and awareness to our sacred spine and sacrum, we begin to create a feedback loop that restores life and healing within.

Saturday 1:00-3:00pm
Conquer Fear & Enjoy the Benefits of Inversions
(modifications provided)
Inverted asanas are considered an essential part of Iyengar yoga. The practice of inversions offers profound benefits to the physical, organic and psychological layers of embodied being. Learn classic inverted postures complemented by the wisdom of the Yoga Sutras. Alternatives will be provided for students who, for whatever reason, cannot do the poses.

Sunday 10am-12pm
Injuries: Embrace, Evolve and Avoid
Yoga is a journey that bring us from darkness to light. The asanas become tools for discovering our dark places. If we can accept our injuries as our “gurus” then we can recognize the teaching that the injury brings, evolving our understanding of ourselves. (Guru is “one who dispels darkness of ignorance”. “Gu” means “darkness of ignorance” and “Ru” means “one who removes”.)

In this class we will explore asanas that include standing, seated and forward extensions, using these postures as tools to shed light upon our imbalances. We will see how injuries occur, as well as how they can be avoided.

$50 / class
$185 / full workshop
